Dressing during pregnancy can be a challenge for many women – and even more so when you’re in the public eye. When your image is going to be beamed across the world, there’s a certain amount of pressure to look great, but with a rapidly changing body, it can be hard to strike the right note.
Despite all the challenges that come with dressing up for formal events while pregnant, there are some women out there who have pulled it off with aplomb. Let’s look back over some of the most stylish pregnancies of all time, featuring high-profile ladies who dressed their growing bump beautifully.
Beautiful Amal is having one of the most stylish pregnancies we’ve ever seen! The stunning human rights lawyer has shown how to do glamorous officewear while pregnant, showing up to the UN wearing an amazing tailored black suit that was as professional as it was flattering. For red carpet moments that are intended to dazzle the crowds, Amal chose a £120,000 Atelier Versace gown, which flattered her growing bump perfectly and descended into a dramatic tail of ombre feathers. Just breathtaking!
Now pregnant with twins, Beyonce looks just as fabulous as she did in her first pregnancy – who could forget the amazing photoshoot she used to announce the news, draped in chiffon-style fabrics and surrounded by flowers? Queen Bey isn’t afraid to be the centre of attention while pregnant – she puts her bump firmly in the limelight and loves to project a glowing, earth mother image. She also knows how to ramp up the glamour when it’s needed, wearing a spectacular fitted red dress and dazzling headgear to the Wearable Art Gala, curated by her mother, Tina Knowles.
The star of Gossip Girl and Green Lantern is now a mum-of-two, and has wowed us during both pregnancies with her stunning figure and eye for a great outfit. Our favourite looks include a blue asymmetric gown worn at the glamorous Cannes Film Festival, a sunshine yellow dress with a plunging (yet still fairly respectable) neckline, and a beautiful black backless dress. We love the way that Blake proves you don’t have to cover up from the neck down while pregnant – she retains her fashion mojo even with a growing bump.
With four pregnancies over the last twenty years, Victoria Beckham’s style has undoubtedly evolved. Her most recent pregnancy, when she carried adorable Harper Seven, saw one of our favourite maternity fashion moments – when she and husband David were invited to the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. Victoria wore a sleek, draped navy dress of her own design, no less, paired with a beautiful Philip Treacy hat and a neat ponytail. A game-changing pregnancy look that’s perfect for formal events!

As parents, we want to be able to capture all those special moments of our little one's lives. But when you’re not a professional photographer, sometimes capturing those picture perfect moments can be frustrating.
As famous photographer WC Fields once said - “never work with animals or children.”
And when you’re a parent you can understand why. Not only because your model is often a wiggle bum, but also because the lighting might not be great, or you’ve realised you can see the giant pile of ironing in the background.
